The purpose of Title I is to expand and improve the educational achievement of “at risk” students. Title I schools are serviced by an Assistant Principal of Instruction or an Instructional Specialist who coordinates the services for schools. Assessment to determine eligibility for direct services based on student academic need is conducted on an annual basis. Schools are funded based on the number of low-income children.

All schools in AUSD are Title I schoolwide programs (except Independence High School and Community Day School) and receive Title I funding.
