McNeilly- Period 5-Film Assignments

This is just for me... Be truthful! I promise I won't take it personally, I am simply looking for ways to grow and improve as a teacher, so I NEED YOUR HELP! Thanks so much for taking the time to give me your feedback.

Write at least 3 sentences, you have to find the reasons why it SHOULD be an award winner, don't just tell me how bored you were :p

If you don't want to do this, you don't have to. It is a quick and easy couple of points!

In your group, pick one known intellectual property that is not an American movie yet. Then make slides trying to pitch/convince your fellow classmates to fund your movie.

Each team will get a certain amount of "money" to different teams. The team with the most amount of money in the end will receive extra credit.

The 1 sentence pitch
Why you think it would make for a great blockbuster.
Who you would cast.

Only one person per group needs to turn in the slides. Please make sure all names are on the assignment. Attach your own slides. Make them beautiful, you are trying to convince the investors to invest in your film. We will be presenting them and giving our money on Thursday.

Respond to the person assigned to you on the list! This is Due Wednesday, you don't need to turn in anything! Just hit turn in when you have completed the assignment!

After watching the clip below, make a detailed sound script of the clip. You will be graded on how complete the sound script is (Did you miss crucial sound effects?), if you included all the information necessary, and how thoughtful your sound design is.

*Remember: You must make at least 3 of the sound effects yourself.

Example: I love the moment in Jurassic Park where the group sees the dinosaurs for the first time. I love how it starts fast and kind of intense to showcase the main characters anxiety and excitement and thrill. Examples of old movies- Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, Psycho, Citizen Kane

Example: My favorite classic is The Wizard of Oz.
1- Catalyst: The tornado sweeps Dorothy away
2- Break into Two- She lands in Munchkinland and kills the witch.
3- Midpoint-They finally get to Oz and meet the Wizard.
4- Break into Three- Dorothy gets trapped. Dorothy accidentally kills the witch by trying to save her friend the scarecrow.
5- Climax/ Finale- Everyone receives their prizes and Dorothy finds that she was able to go home at any time.

This dialogue is in need of some serious help!

Rewrite this scene to convey the exact same story information, but do it in a way that sounds like it’s actually spoken by humans? You may change EVERYTHING about the scene and mix in any body language, movement, or word changes that you’d like.

Just make sure that your newly revised scene conveys the same two major pieces of plot information (Jack’s medical news, Joan’s surprising reveal).

Your favorite line from a movie! One line I repeat often from "Legally Blonde" (continuing from last week) is "What, Like it's hard?". One, it is a meme, and two it is empowering.

Hello, I haven't done this in awhile! Let me know how you are doing :) It isn't mandatory, but I will throw some points your way :)

Remember- If I come into your breakout room and no work is happening. No one is sharing their movie trailer, no one is discussing a movie trailer, your entire group will lose points on the exit ticket.

A good opening scene should establish GENRE, TONE, PACE, and EXPECTATIONS. For me one of my favorite opening scenes is from "Legally Blonde". The song is iconic, the scene perfectly captures the genre of a "chick flick", it sets up the viewers expectations that Elle is wonderful and everyone loves her. Based on the information we learned in class, fill out these google slides! The slides for class are listed in the week topic.

Pay attention to word choice to convey the right genre and tone, and remember that each logline will include HERO, TRAIT, CONFLICT and GOAL.

Then try to guess the movie on other people's answers.

Each one of the transitions is a transition that Melies could have used during his times. All the transitions are simply starting and stopping the recording at a specific time.

This is NOT mandatory, but I do want to make sure everyone is doing ok! This is a great way to reach out to me if you need extra support! If you complete it, you will get a free point though!
