United States History-Period 3 Assignments

This digital notebook will take us the week to finish but I will ask you to do parts on your own as well. We will go slow in parts of the notebook but if you get stuck or I am going too fast you need to say something out loud while I am going through the work. I am preparing some of you for your final presentation on the day of our final.

This unit we will talk about how the United States became a world power? Use the slide show to help you answer some of the questions or use the hyper links ( I will show you)

We will do a short reading and then answer all questions together, everyone will turn in before you leave class

You are going to tell the "story" of an immigrant that came here at the turn of the century. It will be done in slides with no more than 7 total. We will go through the details and the sample I created for you. This hopefully will inspire you to create an interesting story

In this section we will be looking at the arrival of the New Immigrant, from Southern and Eastern Europe

For this assignment, we will look at various stikes in during the mid to late 1800s. Then you will need to write a newspaper article on a strike of your choice. In the template that I provided for you is an example of a story created by me. You may not use any part of my information in your story! You will have to do some outside research for your article. You are writing this as if you were there or if the stike had just ended.

This is an extra credit assignment for the labor movement. You do not have to do this but it will only help you grade!!

We are going to talk this week about the rise of Labor Unions in the Industrial Age then we will focus on some major strikes that you will be "reporting" on

Follow the direction on the Google Doc. You will create TWO hero or villain posters on the industrialists we have talked about today. If you do not turn is this assignment on time, you may not do the extra industrialist for the extra credit. The more creative you are, the more you may get in points!.

Today we will be going over the rise of Big Business and how some made their millions.

For the assignment below the form has a reading then there are questions. This is extra credit, so you do not have to do this BUT if you want to do it, IT MUST BE TURNED IN BY 3:30 PM TODAY!!!

We will go through the slides together then we will do the first form together and the doc then I will explain the last form for you to do (extra credit). The extra credit MUST be turned in by Friday 3:30 PM

Read each document and work on the charts and questions posed below. This is your final assignment for this time period. I will score this as an assessment for you. If you get suck come to office hours so I may help you!

I have included a Reconstruction Slideshow along with a graphic organizer on the three different plans put forth by Lincoln, Johnson, and the Radical Repulicans. Use the links along with the slide show to help you finish the graphic organizer

Watch video #22 and then answer the questions. You may need to watch the video more than once to help you answer the questions. Remember full complete sentences when you are asked an open ended question.

The following is a packet of 7 documents all covering the causes of the Civil War I know it seems like a lot but the readings are broken down into a short concise paragraphs with a few questions. You will have plenty of time to finish the work.

We will understand what sectionalism is and how it led to the United States become intolerant of a key issue SLAVEY in this country.

The Framers of te Constitution compromised to get our Constitution passes. The Federalists felt there was no need for a Bill of RIghts whereas the Anti-Federalists would not sign the Constitution until THe Bill of RIghts was passed. The Bill of RIghts was passed. I have attached a the slide presentation from class, to help you with your next assignment:
I am the new ruler of the United States and I feel that 10 Amendments are too many. I have asked you, my chief of staff , to decide what Four Amendments I keep and what six are gone.
In a slide presentation you are to explain why you are keeping or getting rid of an Amendment to the Constitution. You rationale should be logical and easy to understand. You will need 11 slides TOTAL. First slide is your title slide 2-11 are each amendment with your decisions and rationale on why or why not my new government is keeping it or getting rid of it. You will need some type of image for each slide to help in your explanation.

As you read about the creation of the Constitution, look to the questions that are highlighted yellow to answer in the boxes labeled Notes.

Watch the two videos on the causes of the American Revolution, the War . After watching both, choose one person from each video to write a letter to. It could be a thank you letter to George Washington, You got what you deserved letter to the King of England, A letter to look what you started to Christorpher Columbus. Was it worth it to the members of the Sons of Liberty. These are just a few you could choose from but the topics are endless.
