Memoir The Gabrielaires was a "Swing Band" right out of the 1940's and 50's. We wore Tux jackets and bow ties and there were about 17 of us, give or take. 5 Saxes, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Bass. Our director was William Waddleton, who retired long ago and lived in Arcadia. The group was pretty popular and we had a good reputation and a nice sound. We made several recordings which should be in the school library somewhere. We practiced every Thursday evening for about two hours and played frequently here and there.
